Box Score ATLANTA—The Oglethorpe men's soccer team returned home on Friday night for another Southern Athletic Association game against Millsaps College. The Petrels defeated Millsaps with a clean sheet 5-0.
Oglethorpe maintained its position as the only team in the Southern Athletic Association with an undefeated conference record and moved to 5-0 in the league. The win also brought the Stormy Petrels' margin of victory against conference opponents to 18-1.
Prior to the game, Oglethorpe recognized the seniors from the 2021 and 2022 graduating classes. This included Stephen Summerow, Logan Llano, Fernando Guevara, Abraham Lopez, Tuli Mwarumba, Alan Hernandez and Manny Munroe as the current seniors and Drew Luzzatti, Jimmy Creamer, Will Ransom, Ben Agnew, Jack Butler, Gil Ramos, Roei Levi, Kris Bass and Luis Rubio as last year's seniors.
Hayden Binfield scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute after a corner kick from Fernando Guevara was flicked on by Tuli Mwarumba for the assists. Guevara and Mwarumba were on the assist again for the second goal scored by Logan Llano minutes later in the 31st minute. Matthews Braga scored the final goal of the first half as Oglethorpe went into the second half with a 3-0 lead.
Felipe Araujo scored early in the second half with Ethan Nunes on the assist. Then Sebastian Molina scored the last goal of the game in the final 10 minutes. Defensively, the Petrels continued to prevail as this was their fourth shutout in the past five games.
The Petrels are looking to continue their SAA winning streak when they face Birmingham Southern at home on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. after the women's game.
