Women's tennis swept by Rhodes 9-0

The Oglethorpe women's tennis team had a tough afternoon Saturday at the Howell Courts, falling 9-0 to the Rhodes Lynx. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in SAA play.

The Petrels were swept in doubles, though senior Lisette Phillips and sophomore Sydney Dattilo were competitive in an 8-4 loss out of the No. 2 slot. A couple of competitive matches took place in singles. Phillips fought hard at the No. 1 line and took a set off her opponent. She eventually fell 10-8 in a 10-point tiebreaker in place of a third set. Dattilo made it to a tiebreaker at No. 5 but fell 7-3 to fall behind a set. She wound up losing 7-6, 6-4. Sophomore Kendall Kramer fell 6-2, 6-3 out of the No. 2 slot.

The Petrels return to the Howell Courts Sunday to take on the Lynx in a non-conference contest. That match will get started at 10 a.m.
