The Oglethorpe men's tennis team notched their second straight 6-3 win over the Rhodes Lynx on Sunday. With the victory, the Stormy Petrels improved to 4-1 on the season overall.
As they did Saturday, the Petrels got two of the three doubles matches under their belt against the visiting Lynx. Freshmen Ameya Dani and Daniel Cohen took down the No. 1 match 8-4 while seniors Calvin Schneider and Michael Allen won the No. 3 match 8-2.
With a 2-1 lead headed into singles competition, the Petrels got early singles wins from freshmen Cameron Burkes and Daniel Cohen. Burkes won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 while Cohen took down the No. 4 match 6-2, 6-4. That gave Oglethorpe a 4-1 advantage. After a loss at No. 6, the Petrels put the match away with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph from Schneider at No. 3. After clinching the dual match, Oglethorpe got an additional win from Dani on the No. 2 line 6-3, 6-4.
The 4-1 Petrels re-enter SAA play Saturday when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to battle Hendrix at 2 p.m. Eastern.
