The Oglethorpe men's tennis team won their fourth straight match Saturday, besting the homestanding Hendrix Warriors 9-0 in Conway, Arkansas. The victory improved the Stormy Petrels to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in SAA competition.
The Petrels got their afternoon started with a 3-0 win in the doubles competition. Freshmen Ameya Dani and Daniel Cohen won 8-6 in a tough match at No. 1. The other two doubles teams had an easier time of it, as seniors Walker Benson and Zoe Raymond won 8-3 at No. 3 and senior Calvin Schneider and freshman Vince Claussen took the No. 2 match 8-1.
In singles, Dani won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1; Claussen triumphed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2; Benson came out ahead 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3; Cohen prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4; Raymond took down the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-1; and freshman Cameron Burkes swept his match 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The same two teams will meet again Sunday in a non-conference match, as the Petrels and Warriors get set to battle from Arkansas at 11 a.m. Eastern.
