The Oglethorpe women's tennis team picked up their first SAA victory of the season Saturday in Conway, Arkansas, knocking off the homestanding Hendrix Warriors 7-2. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 2-4 on the season overall and 1-2 in SAA play.
The Petrels got a doubles sweep, giving themselves a 3-0 lead headed into singles play. Senior Lisette Phillips and sophomore Sydney Dattilo won their match 7-4 in a tiebreaker on the top line. Sophomore Kendall Kramer and Alyssa Merletti joined sophomore Alexis Salgueiro and senior Brooke Dotson with 8-3 victories at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
In singles play, Kramer won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2; Merletti triumphed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3; Dattilo was victorious 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4; and junior Katie Hunter won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
The Petrels and Warriors will play again in a non-conference match Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern from Conway.
