The Oglethorpe men's tennis team completed a two-match sweep of Hendrix on the weekend, winning Sunday's non-conference contest 8-1 in Conway, Arkansas. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 6-1 on the season and served as their fifth victory running.
The Petrels got a doubles sweep to take a 3-0 lead into singles competition. Freshmen Vince Claussen and Cameron Burkes won a tight match off the No. 3 line, taking it 7-4 in a tiebreaker. Seniors Walker Benson and Zoe Raymond took the top-line match 8-5, while seniors Calvin Schneider and Michael Allen won 8-3 at No. 2.
In singles play, freshman Ameya Dani won 6-3, 6-1 on the top line; Benson took his No. 2 match 6-1, 6-1; freshman Daniel Cohen won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4; Burkes won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5; and sophomore Plato Constantinides took down the No. 6 match 6-2, 6-2.
The Petrels will be back in action when they host Berry Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Howell Courts.
