Box Score The Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team fell to the visiting Rhodes Lynx 27-7 Saturday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but it was still a momentous day for the Stormy Petrels as senior goalie Jordan Chandler tallied seven saves to pass the 500 career saves mark. She achieved the milestone with her third save at the 19:30 mark of the first half. She finished the day with 504 career saves.
The Petrels dropped to 4-4 on the season overall and 2-3 in SAA play, as they just couldn't withstand the barrage of the undefeated Lynx. It was an even game early, with freshman midfielders Kaitlynn Alford and Ally Moir picking up a trio of goals to make the score 3-3 at the 24:20 mark of the first half. However, Rhodes started pouring it on from that point. They outscored the Petrels 17-0 over the remainder of the half, taking a 20-3 lead into the halftime break.
Oglethorpe hung a bit closer in the second half, scoring four goals and holding Rhodes to seven. The damage was done, though, as the Lynx cruised to a victory.
Alford finished with four goals and an assist on the night, while Moir tallied a pair of goals.
The Petrels will now travel to Berry next Saturday at 2 p.m. to close out the regular season.
