Box Score ATLANTA—On Saturday afternoon, the Oglethorpe men's soccer team had their first win of the season against fellow Southern Athletic Association member, Centre College. The final score of the game was 3-0.
Oglethorpe's James Williams scored the first goal of the game with an assist by Felipe Araujo. The pair was part of a well-timed counterattack immediately following a corner kick at the other end. Araujo went nearly the length of the field before leaving it off for Williams to put away in the 32nd minute.
The Stormy Petrels scored well in the second period of the game with two more goals. The first goal was made by Sebastian Molina, assisted by Javier Martinez, again on a counterattack, and the second goal by Fernando Guevara, assisted by Matthews Braga.
Oglethorpe's next game is at Sewanee on Friday. Sewanee is another member of the Southern Athletic Association, and the Stormy Petrels are looking to bring some momentum into the game. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
