Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C - The Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team continued its perfect season with a 22-13 win against the Converse University Valkyries. This win puts the Petrels at 5-0 for the season thus far.
Five Petrels scored in this game, led by Ally Moir totaling eight, and Makenna Bowens with seven. Goalie Tori Perez totaled eight saves.
The Stormy Petrels kicked off the game with the first goal and would hold the lead for the entirety of the game. Oglethorpe scored three times in the first quarter, and did not allow Converse to make a single goal. In the second quarter, Oglethorpe once again scored thrice before Converse could. The Petrels headed into halftime with triple Converse's score, at 9-3. Oglethorpe continued to dominate the game and keep the Valkyries at bay, swiftly ending the game at 22-13. Overall, the team caused 14 turnovers, was 15-for-15 on clears, and scooped 12 ground balls.
Oglethorpe will return home to play its first Southern Athletic Association game on Saturday, March 5, at 12 p.m. against Hendrix.
