Petrels headed to SAA semifinals

ATLANTA – After defeating Millsaps in the quarterfinals, Head Coach Philip Ponder and the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels are headed to the Southern Athletic Association semifinals.

Tournament Schedule 

  • Oglethorpe will face Rhodes on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 5 p.m. Rhodes is the seven seed who knocked out Birmingham Southern in their quarterfinal.
  • If the Petrels advance again, they will face the winner of the Berry versus Sewanee game, set for Saturday at 3 p.m.
  • The finals will be held Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m.
  • The two semifinal games and championship game will be hosted by Berry.

Season Highlights

  • Record: 11-14 (7-7 SAA)  
  • Buzzer-beating 69-66 win over Centre on Feb. 11. 
  • Season opener was an 83-64 win at Pacific.  
  • SAA opener was a 79-74 overtime win against Berry, who was tabbed for No. 1 in the preseason poll and went on to win the league with only the one loss.
  • Oglethorpe beat Millsaps 91-81 in the conference quarterfinals this past weekend.

  • Perry Robinson leads with 20.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He also has 24 assists and 16 steals.
  • Uba Ezigbo follows with 10.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also made 34 assists and 29 steals.
  • Jordan James averages 10.6 points and 4.2 rebounds. He is the team leader for blocks, with 17 this season.
  • Malachi Dooley is the team leader for assists with 61 (2.5/game). He averages 10.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 steals.
  • Dylan Pumpian is the team's leader for shooting threes, sinking 52 of them. He has recorded 8.7 points per game and 3.4 rebounds, along with 20 assists and 17 steals.
  • Mason Kemp is the team's leader in steals with 34. He also averages 5.6 points and 2.5 rebounds.
  • Jackson Kemp averages 6.4 points and 4.7 rebounds. He also made 50 assists and 17 steals.
  • Mark Asare has 28 assists and 12 steals.
