Petrel trio lands all-SAA postseason honors

ATLANTA—Perry Robinson and Malachi Dooley made all-conference first team, and Dylan Pumpian made all-conference honorable mention to highlight the Oglethorpe men's basketball team's postseason awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Robinson made first team for the second year in a row. Dooley earned honorable mention in 2024, and Pumpian earned distinction for the first time in his career.

Perry Robinson

Similar to Keimarya Rivera on the women's side, Robinson was the only player in the league to rank in the top three in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. He held the top spot in field goal percentage (59.6%) by a wide margin, and he was No. 2 in rebounding (9.0/game) and No. 3 in scoring (20.2/game).

Robinson posted nine double-doubles this year, bringing his career tally to 16 in just two seasons with the Stormy Petrels. Similarly, he needed just two seasons to eclipse 1,000 career points at Oglethorpe, a feat he accomplished earlier this month.

Robinson posted 13 20-point games, including his season high of 30 early in the conference season. He posted his career high in rebounds in the quarterfinal win over Rhodes earlier this week.

Malachi Dooley

Dooley ranked one spot behind Robinson in the scoring column, fourth overall in the league at 17.2 points per game. He also ranked fifth in field goal percentage (48.7%), seventh in assists (3.0/game) and ninth for steals (1.3/game).

Dooley averaged just 13.7 points per game through the first 13 games of the year but really hit a stride once the conference season began. He posted eight 20-point games in league play, averaging 20.9 over the last 12 games of the season. Among them was a 28-point game, Dooley's career high, against Rhodes on January 31, and a 26-point game two days later against Hendrix.

Dylan Pumpian

Pumpian, Oglethorpe's primary perimeter threat, led the SAA in 3-pointers made at 2.8 per game, and he ranked fourth in 3-point percentage at 38.6%. This helped the senior from Marietta, Georgia, average 11.7 points per game which ranked 12th in the conference.

Pumpian's season high came in a nonconference win over Gallaudet early in the season when he set the Oglethorpe single-game 3-point record with 11 made threes. He scored 37, which tied for fourth highest in a single game in the program's NCAA Division III history.

Pumpian also played a big part on the defensive end as he ranked 14th in the conference with 1.0 steals per game.

Postseason Picture

Oglethorpe topped Rhodes 73-70 in the quarterfinal of the SAA tournament earlier this week, advancing to the semifinal behind 22 points from Dooley and a double-double from Robinson. The Stormy Petrels will now face top-seeded Berry on Friday with a spot in the championship game on the line.
