ATLANTA – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has released its 2025 awards, with Oglethorpe bringing home the team academic award for the 2024 season.

The Stormy Petrels posted a 3.57 team GPA. Nine players were named to the Southern Athletic Association honor roll at the end of the season, plus recent graduate Briella Kohler was named to the Sigma Alpha Alpha team.

The AVCA team academic award, previously the USMC/AVCA award, is presented to high school and college teams that maintained at least a 3.3 GPA over the last year. This year 1,450 teams were recognized. This was Oglethorpe's fourth time winning the award.

Coach Olivia Tidmore and the Stormy Petrels will begin the new season on Friday, Aug. 29, against St. Catherine, hosted by Emory.
