ROME, Ga.— The Oglethorpe track & field teams continued their outdoor campaign on Friday at the Berry Field Day Invitational, delivering another strong all-around performance highlighted by personal bests, and new school records.
Men's Highlights
- Jordan McQueen led the way for the Petrels, capturing a win in the long jump with an impressive mark of 7.04 meters.
- Zachary Benner recorded a personal best in the 1,500-meter run, placing third with a time of 4:02.20.
- Philmon Laudat also turned in a personal-best performance in the 400 meters, finishing fourth in 49.19 seconds.
- Kaden Cooke added a fifth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.82 meters.
Women's Highlights
- Evan Thomas paced the women's squad with a record-breaking day, setting new school records in both the 200 meters (24.96) and 400 meters (57.58) while placing third in each event. Her 200-meter time ranks fourth in the Southern Athletic Association and 37th in the NCAA while her 400-meter time is tops in the SAA.
- The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Hailey Wright, Kirsten Wright, Malia Melton and Thomas earned a second-place finish with a time of 48.39.
- Wright also secured a third-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 12.37 and added a personal best in the 200 meters at 25.31.
- Loni Gipson placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.52 meters.
- Allyssa Hearn posted a personal best in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:30.43.
