ATLANTA—Oglethorpe freshman Zeno Goss will represent the Stormy Petrel track & field program this week at the NCAA outdoor championships after qualifying in the 800 meters with one of the top times in the nation.
The NCAA championships are set for Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23, at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Goss' 800-meter prelim will be Friday at 4:35 p.m. ET and the final will be Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
Goss ran the 800 in a program record 1:50.19 two weeks ago at the Emory Qualifier to become Oglethorpe's second individual national qualifier this year. His time ranks No. 17 in the nation and third among freshmen. Goss earned Southern Athletic Association all-conference honorable mention in the event during both indoor and outdoor seasons. He has posted a sub-1:52 time on three occasions this season.
Goss became the fifth national qualifier all-time in Oglethorpe men's track & field history, following most recently Ashton Deriso who earned all-American in the indoor 800 meters in 2025. Goss is the 12th all-time NCAA qualifier for Oglethorpe men's cross country/track & field.
