The Oglethorpe University men's soccer team lost to Reinhardt
College on a rain-soaked field on Thursday evening, 2-1. The Eagles
got a goal with only 10 minutes remaining in the second half to
break a 1-1 tie and deny the Stormy Petrels.
After falling behind 1-0, Oglethorpe got the equalizer just
before the half when Ben Robertson fed E.J. Ovie-Ogodo for the
goal. Despite having several chances, Oglethorpe would not find the
back of the net for the remainder of the game.
The Eagles managed to outshoot Oglethorpe 15-9 while the Petrel
earned 7 corner kicks to the Eagles 6. Jon Beaver, starting for an
injured Michael Hadjisimos, recorded 8 saves in the contest.
Oglethorpe is now 2-2-1 on the season and will have a week off
before beginning conference play on September 25th versus Centre on
Salamone Field at 2:00 p.m.
