Women Race Past Scotties in Season Opener

Box Score

The women's soccer team began their season in style by topping Agnes Scott on Salamone Field today, 3-0.

The Petrels got the scoring going early when freshman Clara St. Urbain raced past a slew of Scottie defenders and beat their keeper in the game's 10th minute. Oglethorpe took a 2-0 lead into halftime after junior Alexandria Vassell scored on a free kick from 20 yards out in the 30th minute.

Sophomore sensation Courtney Phillips added her name to the scoresheet when she connected on a rebound off the Scotties keeeper for the third Petrel strike of the game, this one coming in the 54th minute. From there, Oglethorpe held their ground to earn the season opening win.

The Petrels dominated possession throughout and outshot the Scotties 15-5 en route to the victory. Oglethorpe's women are back in action this Friday at 2:00 p.m. when they host Trevecca Nazarene on Salamone Field
