Box Score The women's soccer team won their third consecutive game to
start the season by topping Piedmont College on Salamone Field
today, 1-0.
The two sides played to a stand still after 90 minutes and the
game went to overtime before the Petrels broke through for the
victory. Once again, it was freshman Clara St. Urbain who provided
the heroics for Oglethorpe, taking a feed from Lexie Craig, beating
two defenders and the Lions' keeper for the game-winner just one
minute into the overtime period.
St. Urbain has now recorded the game-winning goal in all three
of Oglethorpe's victories to start the season. It was the first
career assist for fellow freshman Craig and it could not have come
at a better time for Oglethorpe.
The Lions barely outshot Oglethorpe 12-11 in the contest but the
Petrels earned 5 corners to Piedmont's 2. Senior Sarah Nania
recorded her second consecutive shutout by making 7 saves on the
afternoon.
At 3-0, the Petrels will hit the road for the first time this
season when they face Huntingdon in Montgomery, Ala. this Friday at
4:00 p.m.
