Box Score The men's basketball team dominated Southwestern on Friday night on Pinholster Court, 83-59. The Petrels began the game on a 12-1 run and stretched the lead all the way up to 39 points en route to the easy home court victory.
The Petrels dominated the Pirates on the boards (46-24) and forced 21 Southwestern turnovers on their way to earning 69 shot attempts to only 45 for the Pirates. Oglethorpe also outscored Southwestern 20-0 in second chance points to out-hustle and out-muscle their way to the surprisingly easy victory.
Alex Richey led six Petrels in double-figures with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. All five of his field goal makes were from three-point distance. Alec Pitts had 13 points and 7 rebounds, Todd Ward added 12 points and 11 boards, Joe Kennedy netted 11 and Tyler Cerone 10. Sophomore Branden Jovaag drilled his only four shot attempts, all from beyond the arc, to tally 12 points and round out the Petrels in double figures.
Oglethorpe is now 8-7 (4-2) on the season and will face Trinity tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m.
