Box Score The men's lacrosse team, playing their first season of collegiate lacrosse, lost to Sewanee on Salamone Field on Friday afternoon, 19-0. The Tigers dominated possession and outshot the Petrels 58-8 to secure the convincing win.
Sewanee raced to a 5-0 advantage following the first quarter and extended the lead to an insurmountable 13-0 cushion by halftime. The Petrels had a couple of chances to dent the scoreboard but shots by Austin Treadwell, Maseo Brown and Michael Kasmarik all were stopped by the Tiger goalie.
The Tigers held a 47-22 advantage in collecting ground balls and, when they did not score, made life tough on Oglethorpe to counter-attack. The Petrels only successfully cleared 3 of 19 attempts throughout the contest while the Tigers were 12-of-13 on their clearance chances.
Oglethorpe goalies John Brewer and Cooper O'Brien combined to make 22 saves on the afternoon.
The Petrels are now 2-5 on the season and will square off with Centre this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on Salamone Field.
