Oglethorpe announces Will Munley as men’s lacrosse head coach

ATLANTA—Oglethorpe University and Director of Athletics Todd Brooks have announced Will Munley as the next men's lacrosse head coach. Munley joins the Stormy Petrel athletics staff as a proven program builder with over 10 years of experience coaching lacrosse at many levels.

Munley comes most recently from Greater Atlanta Christian School where he served as director of lacrosse. He is also the founder and director of Crown Lacrosse, a premier travel ball organization based in Atlanta, as well as the co-founder and former director of Elevate Lacrosse Academy, a lacrosse instructional program.

"I am excited to announce that Will Munley has agreed to serve as our next head men's lacrosse coach," Brooks said. "Not only does Will have some significant playing and coaching experience, but he has also been successful in developing, improving and strengthening programs. He is well connected and recognized within the Georgia high school lacrosse community, which will prove extremely beneficial to growing our program."

Munley's most recent role at Greater Atlanta Christian School saw him lead and oversee all lacrosse programs, including Varsity and Junior Varsity as well as mentoring the middle school program. Prior to Greater Atlanta Christian, Munley served four seasons as head lacrosse coach at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Georgia, where he built the HCA lacrosse program from the ground up.

Munley's first-year roster at HCA had nine freshmen, and he led that group to a historic feat as the first first-year program in Georgia history to win a playoff game and advance to the Sweet 16. Munley's team went 13-5 that season on the way to him being nominated for Georgia Gwinnett coach of the year.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to accept the position of head men's lacrosse coach at Oglethorpe University," Munley said. "Thank you to Director of Athletics Todd Brooks and President Kathryn McClymond for believing in my vision for the program. This opportunity represents the culmination of years spent coaching, mentoring and building programs. I am grateful for every player, coach, mentor and experience that helped shape my journey to this moment."

During his time at Hebron Christian Academy, Munley also served as director of youth skill development at Team 91 Georgia from 2020 to 2023. Munley's role there included directing all youth player development across multiple age groups and managing the 2026 Ignition and 2029–2031 developmental teams. He also recruited and onboarded premier regional coaches to host high-visibility instructional events.

"I am excited to become the next head coach of Oglethorpe, be a part of the Oglethorpe community and to build a program here in Georgia that our student-athletes, alumni and supporters can be proud of," Munley added. "I can't wait to get started working with these young men and help lead the continued growth and success of the university."

Munley's experience in the lacrosse world also includes the founding of two organizations, Crown Lacrosse in 2023 and Elevate Lacrosse Academy in 2021. With Crown, he recruits, hires and manages a staff of elite-level coaches and oversees all operational logistics, including scheduling, tournament selection, travel arrangements and multiteam communications. With Elevate, he designed and delivered individual and group training sessions, directed youth development camps and managed all marketing for the instructional program that serves elementary through high school athletes.

"Will's enthusiasm and desire to see things done right were very apparent to the search committee," Brooks continued. "I am excited to see where he is able to take our program over the next couple of years."

Munley is a 2015 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice/law while competing as an all-American for the NAIA lacrosse program. Munley also holds an associate degree in criminal justice/law from Mercyhurst University Northeast in North East, Pennsylvania.

Munley and his wife, Caitlin, currently reside in Pendergrass, Georgia, with their dog, Rey.
