The men's soccer team kicked their season off in fine fashion on Saturday evening by topping Guilford College in Demorest, Ga., 2-1. The Petrels got the game-winning goal from Aaron Walker off a free kick in the 67th minute to lift Oglethorpe to victory.

The Petrels drew first blood in the 61st minute on a strike from Ben Robertson that was assisted by Jakub Madej. The Quakers quickly equalized before Walker finished them off with the devastating free kick.

At 1-0 on the young season, Oglethorpe will be back on the pitch tomorrow when they face Berry College in the finale of the Piedmont Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
