Women's Soccer Blanked at Rhodes, 10-0

Shorthanded due to injuries and a red-card suspension, the Oglethorpe women's soccer team suffered a tough day on Friday, falling to Rhodes, 10-0, in Memphis, Tenn. The loss drops them to 5-5-1 overall, 0-2 in SAA play.

After falling behind 1-0 in the 15th minute, the Petrels conceded four goals between the 20th and 30th minutes, putting the game out of reach early. The home-standing Lynx added on one more to take a 6-0 lead into the halftime break. 

In the second half, Rhodes picked up where they left off, tallying four more goals in that stanza. In all, the Petrels were outshot 26-2, including 19-1 in shots on goal. 

Sophomore Bailey Evans saw here goal come under siege, but was able to stop seven shots on the afternoon. 

The Petrels had to play the game without sophomore midfielder Claire Stauber, the team's leading scorer, as she was suspended for a red card in Tuesday's tie with Tennessee Temple. The team will have her back for Sunday's game at Hendrix, but unfortunately will now be missing senior midfielder Lexie Craig for that game. She picked up a red card for her second caution of the game midway through the second half.

The game against Hendrix will take place in Conway, Ark., at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
