The Oglethorpe women's soccer team held visiting Hendrix scoreless in the second half of their final home game of the season Sunday afternoon at Salamone Field, but they couldn't recover from giving up four goals in the first. Oglethorpe lost in the end, 4-2.

All the scoring took place in the first half in this one, six goals in total. The Stormy Petrels opened the scoring in the 10th minute when junior forward Jasmine Jakes tallied her first goal of the season off a long ball from junior midfielder Claire Stauber.

Hendrix came back with three straight goals, though. They equalized in the 13th minute, then took the lead in the 19th. They took a two-goal lead just two minutes later, extending the scoreline to 3-1 in the 21st minute. 

The Petrels got a goal back in the 40th minute to cut the lead to 3-2. Junior forward Laura Betancourt fired a shot that was saved by the Hendrix goalkeeper, but junior defender Hannah Kuhn came onto the ball and knocked it home for her second goal of the season.

However, the visiting Warriors got their two-goal lead back in the 41st minute to take a 4-2 lead into halftime. Neither team scored in the second half and Hendrix came away with the 4-2 victory.

Over the course of the game, the two teams both fired 15 shots with Hendrix putting 10 shots on goal to Oglethorpe's seven. Hendrix took nine corner kicks to Oglethorpe's five.

The loss drops Oglethorpe to 4-10, 1-5 in SAA play. They'll now travel to Danville, Ky., to take on Centre in the final game of the regular season on Saturday. That game will get started at 5 p.m.
