Box Score The Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell in their SAA opener in Mount Berry, Ga., Saturday, losing 6-0 to hosts Berry.
The Stormy Petrels were outshot 26-5 over the course of the game, including 13-2 on goal. Berry took eight corner kicks to Oglethorpe's two, while forcing the Petrels to make seven saves to their two. Oglethorpe committed six fouls to Berry's four. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Craig made five saves for the Petrels while junior midfielder Claire Stauber and junior defender Hannah Kuhn fired two shots apiece.
Berry took the lead in the eighth minute, then expanded it in the 13th. The Vikings capped off their scoring for the half with another goal in the 44th minute. Berry continued in the second half with goals in the 55th, 58th and 77th minutes.
The loss drops the Petrels to 3-6 on the season, 0-1 in SAA play. They'll continue SAA play next Saturday when they welcome Sewanee to Salamone Field at 1:30 p.m.
