Box Score The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team suffered a loss in its SAA opener Wednesday night, falling to in-state rival Berry 21-3 at Oglethorpe Field.
The Stormy Petrels fell behind 2-0 early against the visiting Vikings, but fought back immediately. Austin Anderson scored on an assist from Ben Caoili to make it 2-1 with 7:32 left in the first period, then Eric Seymour scored a man-up goal off an assist from Hunter Dutton to tie the score, 2-2, with 7:06 left in the period.
However, the game was all Berry from that point, as the Vikings ran off 18 straight goals leading into the fourth quarter. Jake Godwin tallied a goal for the Petrels with 10 minutes remaining in the game, but that was it for Oglethorpe on the night.

The Petrels had penalty problems throughout the game, as they accumulated 14 penalty minutes on 15 total infractions. Berry went 5-for-12 on extra-man opportunities.
The Petrels were outshot 54-17, including 36-9 on goal. They committed 29 turnovers to Berry's 16 and were successful on just 12-of-24 clear attempts.
The team drops to 3-6 in all games, 0-1 in SAA play. They'll now embark on a three-game SAA road trip, which begins on Saturday at Sewanee. That game will get started at 4 p.m. Eastern.
