The Oglethorpe women's soccer team dropped to 2-2 on the season with a 4-1 Wednesday evening loss to Maryville in Maryville, Tenn. Though the two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime, the home-standing Scots scored three unanswered goals in the second to win the game.

The game started very poorly indeed for the Stormy Petrels as they gave up the opening goal in the second minute of action. Maryville continued to lay siege to junior Sarah Craig's goal after that. In fact, the Scots outshot the Petrels 27-5 over the course of the game, including a 15-3 mark in shots on goal. However, Craig made five big saves in the first half to keep the Petrels in the game and the visitors equalized in the 35th minute when junior defender Hannah Kuhn tallied her first goal of the season. 

In the second half, though, the Scots continued attacking the Petrels in waves. They outshot Oglethorpe 17-2 in the second half and eventually went back ahead in the 60th minute. They then got two more goals late to put the game away, one in the 84th minute and the other in the 86th. 

Craig did all she could, stopping six more shots in the second half for a total of 11 saves over the course of the game. Unfortunately, she suffered the loss in the end. Junior midfielder Claire Stauber fired three shots over the course of the contest, forcing a save on one of them.

In addition to the shot disparity, Maryville took three corner kicks to Oglethorpe's none.

The Petrels will now take the weekend off before travelling to the home of another USA South opponent on Tuesday. They'll be in LaGrange, Ga., to take on LaGrange at 7 p.m.
