Box Score The Oglethorpe women's soccer team outshot the homestanding Bob Jones Bruins 17-9 Saturday afternoon in Greenville, S.C., including putting eight shots on goal. They were unable to put any of them in the net, however, and a Bob Jones second-half goal allowed them to take the 1-0 victory.
The Stormy Petrels had a variety of chances to bag a goal, outshooting the Bruins 9-5 in the first half and 8-4 in the second. The Bob Jones goalkeeper came up with save after save, though, preserving the 0-0 scoreline. That scoreline held through halftime and into the 57th minute, when the Bruins broke through with the opening goal.
The Petrels continued to pillory the Bob Jones goal with shots, but could not slip one past the goalkeeper. The Petrels took three corner kicks to Bob Jones' zero and got two saves from junior goalkeeper Sarah Craig.
The loss drops the Petrels to 3-3 on the season. They'll be back at home on Thursday, when they host crosstown opponent Agnes Scott on Salamone Field at 4:30 p.m. They'll then play Salem in their final non-conference game before the start of SAA play at 3:30 p.m. next Sunday.
