Box Score The Oglethorpe women's soccer team had a tough game on the road Saturday evening on Lookout Mountain, as they fell to in-state opponent Covenant 4-0. The homestanding Scots took a 2-0 lead at halftime, then went on to double their advantage in the second half to cruise to a 4-0 win. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 2-3 on the season.

Oglethorpe freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas kept her team in the game by making three first-half stops, but Covenant doubled their advantage just before halftime, putting one into the net in the 45th minute.
That goal gave the Scots some momentum headed into the second half, and they added another in the 55th minute. The home team continued in the second half much as they had in the first, as Covenant outshot the Petrels 10-5 over the course of the second 45 minutes. Bolas made a pair of saves, but Covenant was able to put the game away in the 64th minute.
Overall, Covenant outshot Oglethorpe 21-9, and put nine shots on goal to the Petrels' three. Covenant also finished with six corner kicks to Oglethorpe's two. Bolas finished with five saves and sophomore forward Kayla Trice fired three shots, putting two of them on goal.
"Things just didn't go our way this evening," said Oglethorpe head coach Wes Anania, "but we'll regroup and get ready to start conference play on Friday. We've still got a lot of games left to play."
The Petrels will welcome Centre to the Oglethorpe Track and Field for their SAA opener Saturday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. before going back out-of-conference to take on Oakwood and Piedmont at home, as well as Brenau on the road, before re-entering SAA play in earnest.
