Box Score

The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team fell to the homestanding Hendrix Warriors 19-1 Friday night in Conway, Arkansas, in the SAA opener for both teams. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 1-6 on the season overall.

The Petrels scored their lone goal early in the contest, as freshman middie Dwayne Taylor tallied a game-tying goal with 6:01 remaining in the first quarter to make it 1-1. The team would not score again, however, and the homestanding Warriors rolled off 18 unanswered to come away with the victory.

Freshman goalie Ramiro Juarez tallied 15 saves on the 34 shots on goal he faced. Junior defenseman Andrew Kwapil and sophomore middie Jack Brand tied for the team lead in ground balls with three apiece.

Hendrix outshot Oglethorpe overall 74-18, including a 34-8 mark in shots on goal. Hendrix forced 36 Oglethorpe turnovers while committing just 18 themselves, and scooped 33 ground balls to Oglethorpe's 16.

The Petrels will be back in action on Sunday, when they continue to Memphis, Tennessee, to take on Rhodes Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern. They'll head back to Tennessee to take on Sewanee in their final road game of the regular season the following weekend, then return home for the final three against Berry, Birmingham-Southern and Centre.
