Men's lacrosse drops road contest to Berry

The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team fell 21-2 to the homestanding Berry Vikings Tuesday night in Mount Berry at Valhalla stadium. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-9 on the season overall and 0-5 in SAA play.

The Petrels tallied the game's opening goal with 12:08 left in the first quarter when sophomore middie Brian Green put one past the Berry goalie to give his team the lead. The Vikings responded with a pair of goals to take the lead, but Oglethorpe tied it 2-2 when freshman attackman Thomas Clark tallied an unassisted goal with 9:40 left.

Oglethorpe wouldn't score again. They were down 4-2 at the end of the first, but the Vikings recorded seven goals in the second, eight in the third, and two more in the fourth.

Freshman goalie Addison Irwin collected 22 saves on the night.

Berry outshot the Petrels 43-6 on goal and collected 17 of 25 faceoffs. They forced 29 Oglethorpe turnovers, collected 45 ground balls, and were successful on all 22 of their clear attempts. 

The Petrels close out their regular season Friday at 5 p.m. EDT from Alabama. There they'll take on the Birmingham-Southern Panthers.
