Box Score The Oglethorpe women's soccer team had a tough evening Monday at Scotland Yard on Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia, falling to the homestanding Covenant Scots 3-0. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 7-2 on the season.
The Petrels held the Scots scoreless throughout the first half, despite being outshot 7-2. Oglethorpe junior goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas recorded five saves for the period and the two teams went into the halftime break with the score 0-0.
However, Covenant scored early in the second half and continued to add on from there. They tallied goals in the 51st, 75th and 88th minutes. Meanwhile, the Petrels were outshot 9-2 over the second 45 minutes.
For the game, the Scots outshot the Petrels 16-4 overall and put nine shots on target to Oglethorpe's three. Covenant took nine corner kicks to Oglethorpe's three, as well.
The Petrels will have a quick turnaround and get right back to action on Wednesday evening when they host Talladega at 5 p.m. from the Oglethorpe Track and Field. After that, they'll get back to SAA play with a Saturday conference road tilt against Sewanee at 3 p.m. Eastern.
