The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team suffered a 9-1 loss to Methodist Monday afternoon in Fayetteville, North Carolina, dropping to 4-4 on the season as a result.

The Stormy Petrels tallied the final goal of the game, but saw the homestanding Monarchs score nine goals leading up to that. They scored a pair of goals in the first quarter, one more in the second and five in the third to build an 8-0 lead. The two teams traded goals in the final period with freshman attackman Quade Bedgood scoring at the 9:34 mark. 

Oglethorpe sophomore goalie Addison Irwin did his best to keep the Petrels in the game, recording 19 saves on 28 shots faced. The Petrels just couldn't get anything going on the offensive end, though, recording just 19 ground balls and 15 total shots while committing 30 turnovers.

The Petrels return to action Saturday from the Oglethorpe Track and Field, where they'll take on JWU-Denver at noon.
