Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Col.- Oglethorpe's men's basketball team came out on top with a score of 94-74 in the game against the Tigers of Colorado College Saturday night to complete a 2-0 road trip and remain perfect on the season.
"I think this was a gut check game because this was a really challenging trip logistically with two hard travel days," Head Coach Philip Ponder said postgame. "We came out a little slow, but then the guys dug in and showed a lot of heart to battle back and eventually pull away. This was a good win and I'm really proud of how the guys responded."
Dimetri Chambers led the team tonight, scoring 31 points throughout the game. Additionally, Jack Murrah and Lane Foster totaled 17 and 15 points, respectively.
In the first half, Uba Ezigbo earned the first two points of the game for the Petrels with a successful layup. The Tigers gained and maintained a steady lead until the end of the half when Murrah made two free throws. Will Koch, Foster, Ezigbo, Murrah and Chambers continued to score throughout the period to end the first half of the game at 44-43 for the Petrels.
Despite Colorado College quickly taking the lead in the second half, the Stormy Petrels climbed to the top. Foster regained the Petrel's lead with a layup and a 3-pointer with the assists Carlos Sone.
The second half saw both teams play excellently, but the Petrels continued to stay far ahead of the Tigers and Will Koch ended the game with a layup at 23 seconds remaining that set the final score to 94-74.
This win puts the men's basketball team at 3-0 for the season. Their next game will be back in Georgia as they are playing two games up in Mount Berry, Georgia, next Saturday and Sunday.
