Box Score The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team had a tough outing Friday night at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, falling to the visiting Hendrix Warriors 16-3. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in SAA play.
Hendrix outscored Oglethorpe 4-1 in the opening period, with sophomore middie Carsen Van Note notching the only goal of the period for the Petrels at the 7:46 mark. Sophomore attackman Quade Bedgood got the Petrels off to a good start in the second quarter with a goal at the 11:04 mark. Hendrix scored a couple in a row from there, but Bedgood fed sophomore attackman Jazz Washington for a man-up goal with 4:47 left until halftime.
The Warriors led 7-3 at the break, though, and proceeded to pull away in the second half. The outscored the Petrels 9-0 over the final 30 minutes and pulled away to the 13-goal victory.
Junior goalie Addison Irwin tallied 22 saves on the evening, while senior Jack Brand led the team with six ground balls.
Hendrix outshot Oglethorpe 38-16 on goal, and scooped 41 ground balls to Oglethorpe's 23.
The Petrels will be back in action for their final home game of the season Sunday, when they take on Rhodes at 4 p.m. from the Oglethorpe Track and Field.
