Box Score The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team hung tough Sunday afternoon against a talented Rhodes team at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but eventually fell 14-7. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 1-6 on the season overall and 0-3 in SAA play.
Rhodes pulled out to a big lead in the first half. They outscored Oglethorpe 3-0 in the first quarter and 10-2 over the opening 30 minutes. They responded in the second half, however, outscoring Rhodes 5-4 over the final 30 minutes. They got an even-strength goal from freshman middie Israel Pendleton-Moore and a man-up goal from senior middie Brian Green in the third quarter, then enjoyed tallies from sophomore attackman Max Brand, sophomore attackman Jazz Washington and Pendleton-Moore in the fourth. They never got closer than seven goals in the second half, though, and Rhodes eventually coasted to the seven-goal win.
Pendleton-Moore finished with a hat trick for Oglethorpe, while goalies Xay Duax and Addison Irwin combined for 12 saves on the afternoon. Rhodes outshot Oglethorpe 38-27 overall and 26-13 on goal.
The Petrels will be back in action Saturday when they head to Danville, Kentucky, to battle Centre at 1 p.m.
