Box Score The Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Birmingham-Southern Panthers in Alabama Friday. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 0-5 on the season.
The Stormy Petrels fell behind 2-0 early, allowing goals in the eighth and 11th minutes. They played a relatively even game against the Panthers after that, firing four shots to Birmingham-Southern's two in the first half after the home side built the 2-0 lead. Junior goalkeeper Alexis Hutson-Hamric got the start and recorded three saves over the course of the opening half.
In the second half, the Panthers outshot the Petrels 9-3 but were unable to dent the scoreboard. Unfortunately, the Petrels couldn't tally a goal, either. Freshman goalkeeper Haley Lowell played the second half and made three saves.
Birmingham-Southern outshot Oglethorpe 17-7 overall and 8-5 on goal. They took seven corner kicks to the Petrels' two.
Oglethorpe will be back in action Sunday afternoon at noon Eastern, when they head to Jackson, Mississippi, to take on Millsaps. It'll be their final game of the season.
