Box Score ATLANTA – Sarah Berg's goal in the first two minutes of play set the tone for a decisive 7-0 scoring frenzy Oglethorpe women's soccer put on display over Agnes Scott Wednesday night in the 2021 opener.
Berg was the first of seven scorers for the Stormy Petrels, who only twice went more than eight minutes without finding the back of the net.
Mackenzie Jones, Lauren Kirby, Daniella Streety, Londyn Riley, Kirsten Brown and Kirsten Wrona provided the other six tallies, with assists going to Nikki Wells, Safiya Said, Sara McDade, Brown, Taylor Whiteside, Maddie Ennis and Marissa Romaine.
"I'm proud of the team tonight," head coach Wes Anania said. "Seven different scorers in seven different ways. It was a total team effort. Safiya Said did an amazing job in the midfield for us."
Oglethorpe won the lopsided game with a lopsided shot count, posting 20 shots on goal and hardly needing its defense which faced only three shots (two on goal). Goalkeeper Haley Lowell made saves on both shots on goal she faced.
Up next, Oglethorpe faces LaGrange Sunday at 5 p.m. before hitting the road for the next two matches next week.
