ATLANTA—Mackenzie Jones scored her team-leading third and fourth goals of the season to bookend the first collegiate goal from freshman Jade Anderson and send Oglethorpe women's soccer to a 3-0 victory over Wesleyan Sunday evening.

All three goals came in the last 30 minutes of play, with Jones providing the eventual winner in the 62nd minute off a strike from outside the penalty area on the right side. Anderson came up with a loose ball in the box 11 minutes later to put Oglethorpe's second goal away, and 15 minutes after that, Jones scored from a tough angel along the right side to round out the scoring.

"I'm proud of the team's second-half effort," said Head Coach Wes Anania. "Mackenzie Jones did a good job of taking players on and was able to find the net a couple of times. Madi Riley was dangerous in and around the box leading to a great rebound hustle goal from Jade Anderson."

Dominating effort

Those final 30 minutes reflected a dominating effort the Stormy Petrels put on for all 90 minutes. They outshot Wesleyan 20-4, including 12-3 on shots on goal, had an 11-1 advantage on corner kicks, and kept possession in their attacking third for much of the win.

Lauren Kirby led Oglethorpe with six shots while Madi Riley took three and Jones took two.

Oglethorpe goalkeeper Haley Lowell made three saves and posted her second clean sheet of the season.

Oglethorpe heads to Piedmont on Wednesday before opening up Southern Athletic Association play next Saturday against Centre.
