Box Score ATLANTA – Kirsten Wrona scored twice while Kirsten Brown and Lauren Kirby both tallied a pair of assists, and the Oglethorpe women's soccer team won 3-1 over LaGrange Sunday evening.
The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 2-0 on the season, and they have a goal differential of 10-1 on the season, conceding its only goal in a consolation situation late in the game.
"The team played well today," said Head Coach Wes Anania. "They worked on some of the areas we need to improve from Agnes Scott and began to find a rhythm with each other. Our back line played well. Julia Snyder did a great job controlling the middle with Sarah Berg while our outside backs of Sara McDade and Nikki Wells started many of our dangerous attacks."
Petrels continue high scoring with strong first half
Wrona scored the first and the third goal of the day for the Petrels.
Her first came after a great delivery from Sara McDade on a free kick that allowed Wrona to finish from close range. Hardly 30 seconds went by before Mackenzie Jones made it 2-0 with a goal from the left side. This goal came after a selfless play from Brown, who had a good look herself near the top of the box on a breakaway but instead left it off for Jones who also finished from close range.
Wrona finished the Petrel scoring in the 73rd minute on a feed from Kirby near midfield.
Oglethorpe led the shot count 18-5, including 12-3 on shots on goal. Brown accounted for five shots to lead the team while Kirby accounted for four.
