Box Score CONWAY, Ark.— The Oglethorpe men's basketball team hit the road this week to face fellow Southern Athletic Association member Hendrix College on Friday night. After a close game, the Petrels fell to Hendrix with a final score of 83-72.
"Tonight was disappointing," said Head Coach Philip Ponder. "We just did not play well at all in the first half. We came out with a lot of energy in the second half, but we had dug ourselves too big of a hole and spent a lot of energy coming back. We need to regroup and come back better on Sunday and try to get a road split this weekend."
Dimetri Chambers led the Stormy Petrels in scoring with 25 points, serving as his 32nd career game scoring 20 or more points. Other contributors included Will Koch with 12 points and Uba Ezigbo with 11 points.
Midway through the first half, Oglethorpe had an 8-0 run to tie the game, but Hendrix quickly responded. The Petrels were down at halftime with the score sitting at 46-31.
Oglethorpe fought back to tie the game again with nine minutes left in the second half. The two teams continued neck and neck, but Hendrix took the upper hand in the last four minutes to seal the deal.
The Petrels are set to hit the court again on Sunday at Rhodes. The game will start at 4 p.m.
