Box Score BREVARD, N.C. - The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team is back on top after securing a win on the road, taking down the Brevard College Tornados 10-4.
Five Stormy Petrels were able to score in this game, led by juniors Max Brand and Richard Bedgood IV with three and four goals respectively. Goalie Addison Irwin totaled 15 saves.
The Stormy Petrels carried the lead for the entirety of the game, as the first quarter saw Oglethorpe make two goals before Brevard could score. Although the Tornados were able to briefly catch up in the beginning of the second quarter, Oglethorpe quickly blew past them. Three Petrels were able to score before the clock ran out, and the game headed into halftime with a score of 5-2.
The third quarter really saw the Petrels put Brevard in their place, as Oglethorpe once again was able to score thrice before the clock ran out. At this point, Oglethorpe had doubled Brevard's score at 8-4.
In the final quarter, the Stormy Petrels went on to score twice more, and prevent the Tornadoes from making any goals in the quarter. After a compelling game, Oglethorpe topped Brevard 10-3 to get the season back on track.
Overall, the Petrels scooped 41 ground balls, forced 31 turnovers, won 9 of 17 face-offs, and was 22-of-31 on clears.
Oglethorpe will remain in North Carolina for the weekend as the team heads east to play Pfeiffer University on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday but moved up due to impending weather.
