BIRMINGHAM—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels started the 2024-2025 season with great results in the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker on Friday, setting a pair of records in making a smooth transition into the new season.

Men's Results

• Ashton Deriso, coming off a national top-50 finish in cross country, finished runner-up in the mile and set a new school record with a time of 4:17.67.
• Zachary Benner, also a cross country national qualifier, placed fifth in the mile with a time of 4:27.94. Benner also finished 18th in the 800m with a time of 2:01.83.
• Tristan Arey finished 22nd in the 300m.
• Charlie Monroe placed 28th in the triple jump.
• Charles Waller finished 30th in shot put.

Women's Results

• Hannah Rhodes won her heat, set a new school record, and finished eighth in the mile with a time of 5:32.95. She also took 14th in the 800m with a time of 2:32.77.
• Keri Edwards finished 19th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.59m.
• Sybella Bertolini finished 14th in the mile and 21st in the 800m.
• The 4x400 relay team finished 17th.
• Hailey Wright placed 19th in the high jump.
• Kirsten Wright finished 23rd in the 300m.

Meet Notes

• Southern Athletic Association members Berry and Rhodes also competed.
• Amirah Ali, Gabriella Andino, Tristan Arey, Sybella Bertolini, Keri Edwards, Kristian Jolly, Antonio Lipnicky, Yvonne Minutella, Demetrius Moore, Atara Simister and Charles Waller all made their collegiate track & field debuts.
