ROME, Ga.—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels competed in their final regular season meets, the Berry Field Day Invitational and the Lee University Fast Break Athletics Invitational, this weekend in preparation for the Southern Athletic Association Championships later this month.
Men's Results
- Jaylon Taylor placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.91m. Sophomore Logan Turner placed sixth with a mark of 1.86m.
- Zachary Benner placed sixth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:43.03.
- Senior Ashton Deriso ran a personal best in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:50.86, taking 26th place.
- The 4x400 team, consisting of Rainey Morris, Logan Turner and Jaylon Turner, placed ninth in the relay with a time of 3:59.19.
- Anthony Bonds placed 22nd in the 100 meters.
Women's Results
- Freshman Amirah Ali placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.90m, and junior Malia Melton placed fourth with a final mark of 10.43m.
- Junior Kirsten Wright ran a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 25.49, taking sixth place. Evan Thomas placed eighth with a time of 25.78.
- Riley Michaud took 10th place and set a new personal best in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:07.49.
- Evan Thomas placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.39.
- Hailey Wright placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.22m. Wright also placed 10th in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 16.59.
- Aubrey Guyden placed 13th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.43.
- Freshman Gabriella Andino placed 14th in the 400-meter hurdles.
Up Next
The Stormy Petrels will take on the SAA Championships Friday-Saturday, April 25-26, in Sewanee, Tennessee. Those who qualify will continue on to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships later in May.
