BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels opened the 2025–2026 indoor track & field season with a strong showing at the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker on Friday, highlighted by several personal bests, competitive early-season marks, and a large group of first-year athletes making their collegiate debuts.
Men's Highlights
- Zeno Goss led the way for the men with a ninth-place finish in the 1000m (2:33.67) and a 19th-place showing in the 400m (50.98).
- Charlie Monroe posted a major personal best in the triple jump, landing at 39-00.25.
- Sprinter Joshua Barfield recorded a PR of 9.16 in the 60m dash.
- First-years Philmon Laudat and Brandon Large made impressive collegiate debuts in the 200m, running 23.33 and 24.08, respectively.
- Kristian Jolly threw 24-01 in the shot put.
- The men's 4x400m relay with Laudat, Jack Dollar, Noah Harmon and Goss placed 13th.
Women's Highlights
- Hannah Rhodes opened her season with a seventh-place finish in the 3000m (10:52.76) and 13th in the 1000m (3:09.29).
- Kirsten Rose placed eighth in the 800m (2:24.41), while Mari-Rosa Colon followed closely in 15th (2:34.70).
- In the 60m dash, Keri Edwards and Amirah Ali clocked 8.34 and 8.76.
- Ali also took 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.76m.
- Kirsten Wright ran 26.93 in the 200m.
- Hailey Wright leapt 15-10.25 in the long jump.
- The women's 4x400m relay with Wright, Rose, Colon and Evan Thomas finished 15th.
