ATLANTA – The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels competed in Emory's Spring Break Classic and Georgia Tech's Yellow Jacket Invitational this weekend, and smashed a few more records.
Yellow Jacket Invitational Results
- Ashton Deriso took fifth place in the 5000m with a program record time of 14:53, shaving more than 15 seconds off the previous record of 15:09.
- Stephen Graffius placed 20th in the 5000m with a personal best time of 15:29.
- Beck James also recorded a new PR time.
Emory Spring Break Classic Results
- Malia Melton won the triple jump with a final mark of 11.58m. She also took seventh in the long jump with a season high final mark of 4.93m.
- Ugohnofure Awarieta took seventh in the 1500m with a time of 4:18.
- Aubrey Guyden took 16th place in the 200m with a time of 26.24. She also recorded a new personal best in the 100m.
- Kirsten Wright placed 24th in the 200m with a PR time of 26.74. She also recorded a PR in the 100m.
- Hailey Wright finished eighth in the high jump with a final mark of 1.50m. She also took ninth in the long jump with a final mark of 4.87m.
- Antonio Fuentes placed 25th in the 800m with a time of 2:06.
- Anthony Bonds took 26th in the long jump with a final mark of 5.71m. He also made a new personal best in the 100m.
Georgia Tech Meet Notes
- The previous school record for the (outdoor) 5000m was set by Jacob Hadden in 2019.Â
- The Petrels faced mostly NCAA Division I competition, including Missouri, Georgia and Auburn.
- Only distance runners competed for Oglethorpe.Â
Emory Meet Notes
- The events were held at Morehouse.Â
- The meet included NCAA Division II opponents Clayton State, West Georgia and Columbus State.
- Southern Athletic Association member Sewanee's men's team also competed.
- Allie Sierra set a new PR in the 200m.
- Baker Rousseau, Cristo Martinez and Charlie Monroe set new personal records in the 100m.
- Brycen Sterling recorded new PRs in the 200m and 400m.
- Daniel Bogard set a new PR in the 200m.
