Men's Track and Field Chloe Clemensen

Track & field closes regular season at Berry

ROME, Ga. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels competed well in their final meet of the regular season, the Berry Field Day Invitational, in preparation for the Southern Athletic Association Championships later this month.

Men's Results

  • Ashton Deriso set a new school record and took fourth in the 1500m with a time of 3:55. He was just three seconds behind the leader and is currently No. 48 in NCAA Division III for the event.
  • Anthony Bonds placed 15th in the 100m with a time of 10.90.
  • Stephen Graffius placed 26th in the 1500m with a final time of 4:03.
  • Ugohnofure Awarieta took 21st in the 400m with a time of 52.77, Brycen Sterling placed 25th at 53.29, and Daniel Bogard 33rd at 56.52. All three were new personal bests. 
  • Anthony Arredondo placed 25th in the 5000m with a time of 16:07.

Women's Results

  • Malia Melton took runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 11.01m, just 0.1 behind the leader. 
  • Hailey Wright took fifth in the long jump with a final mark of 5.31m. This was a new PR and she currently ranks No. 46 in NCAA Division III for the event. 
  • Elina Malancea took sixth in the 5000m with a new personal record time of 19:52. 
  • Aubrey Guyden placed 11th in the 100m with a time of 12.25, while Kirsten Wright took 27th with a PR time of 12.72. 
  • K. Wright also finished 29th in the 200m. 
  • Malia Melton placed 13th in the long jump with a final mark of 4.97m. 
  • Evan Thomas set a new personal best in the 400m and took 16th place with a final time just shy of a minute flat.

Meet Notes

  • Rainey Morris set a PR in javelin throw. 
  • Charlie Monroe set a new personal record in the triple jump. 
  • Several NCAA Division I teams were also competing, including Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State.  
  • Several Division II schools also competed, such as Reinhardt, West Georgia and Clayton State. 
  • No other Southern Athletic Association members competed.

Up Next

The Stormy Petrels will take on the SAA Championships Friday-Saturday, April 26-27, in Conway, Arkansas. Those who qualify will continue on to the NCAA Division III Championships later in May.
