ATLANTA—Following another outstanding effort in the third event of the season, Oglethorpe freshman Dounia Bezzari has been selected as the Southern Athletic Association women's golf athlete of the week. The league office made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, naming the freshman from Vero Beach, Florida, co-winner in a field that featured six SAA teams competing at the Golfweek Fall Invitational.

Bezzari led the team to eighth place with a fifth-place finish of her own. She was only six strokes off the Oglethorpe record for 54 holes, and her three rounds of 74-71-74 marked her three best rounds of the season so far. 

Bezzari finished fourth in par 5 scoring at 4 under par and seventh in par 4 scoring at 5 over par. She also ranked second for birdies with 11.

Bezzari and the Stormy Petrels have one more event on the fall schedule, the Chick-fil-A Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 27-28, in Rome, Georgia.
