Opening weekend brings SAA honors for Rivera

ATLANTA- In the opening weekend for the Oglethorpe women's basketball team, a strong performance by senior Keimarya Rivera earned her the honors of the first Southern Athletic Association athlete of the week of the season.

Rivera posted 23 points and nine rebounds in a road win against Piedmont. Her offensive efforts allowed the Stormy Petrels to never lose their lead over the Lions and to have a lead as large as 14. Rivera also tallied two assists, two blocks and two steals, and she was perfect from the free throw line going 5-for-5. Rivera shot 9-for-13 from the field pushing the Petrels to a 78-65 victory.

Rivera and the rest of the Oglethorpe women's basketball team are back on the road Wednesday, Nov. 12, to take on the LaGrange Panthers at 7 p.m. The first home game will be Saturday when they take on Huntingdon at 4:30 p.m.
