ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association has named Oglethorpe sophomore Evan Thomas the track athlete of the week.

The honor comes after Thomas made stellar marks in the Samford Bulldog Open over the weekend. She finished 12th in the 200m with an Oglethorpe record time of 25.85 and was the first in her section. The previous weekend, Thomas, Elliott Baker, Riley Michaud and Hannah Rhodes set a new school record in the distance medley relay. They finished fourth at the JDL Fast Track Camel City Sprints with a time of 13:23.

This was Thomas' first SAA athlete of the week nod.

The Stormy Petrels will be back in action at the SAA Indoor Championships February 28 – March 1. The outdoor season will open at Berry's Victor Icebreaker on Saturday, March 8.
