Petrels post more solid marks in North Carolina

MILL SPRING, N.C.— The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels traveled to North Carolina to continue their indoor season at the Tryon Invitational Saturday afternoon, seeing more strong results in several events.

Men's Highlights

  • Zeno Goss led the way for the men with a third-place finish in the 800m (1:56.02). Former Petrel Ashton Deriso, running unattached, followed closely with a fourth-place showing in the same event, clocking 1:56.04.
  • Jordan McQueen recorded a top-16 finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters.

Women's Highlights

  • Freshman Kirsten Rose turned in an impressive performance in the 800m, finishing in 2:26.56.
  • Evan Thomas posted a season-best time of 26.32 in the 200m dash. Hannah Rhodes also recorded a season best in the 1600m, crossing the line in 5:20.58.
  • In the field events, Hailey Wright notched a season-best mark of 5.02 meters in the long jump, while Keri Edwards recorded a season best of 10.79 meters in the triple jump.
